Connect the power adapter.

Hold down the Windows key and press the B key at the same time.

While holding those keys down press the power button once.

Continue  holding down those keys for at least 45 seconds or until an onscreen message reports that a BIOS recovery is taking place.

At that point you can release the keys and wait.

Thanks Erico, but it really didn't work. The same screen telling me the bios recovery files cannot be found or the files are corrupted. It offers me another option using a usb flash drive. I'm hestitating on this risky method. Would it really give my old id number back? Is there a bios id number editor?

You can only install the version that was present or a newer one.

The days of installing the BIOS of your preference easily are over.

You could remove the BIOS chip and replace it with one programmed with the BIOS of your preference.  That is the hard-core, but viable method. There is disassembly and hot air station rework involved. That method is not for the inexperienced.
