Hi comunity.

I want to upgrade my PC's storage, so I bought a Samsung 870 SATA III SSD, but I can't find a compatible flex cable. I bought one that came with a caddy, but it had a 16-pin flex cable (7+9), and the Samsung needs 22 pins (7+15). Help! Otherwise, it would be an unnecessary purchase, because that 16-pin flex cable wouldn't work for me either, right?

Hi @d0ph98,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the flex cable for your HP Omen 15!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

For your HP OMEN 15 laptop, if you're upgrading your storage with a Samsung 870 SATA III SSD, you indeed need the correct flex cable that matches the 22-pin configuration for SATA III connections (7 pins for data and 15 pins for power).

Check with Authorized Parts Suppliers:

  • Authorized parts suppliers might be able to provide the exact flex cable needed if HP Support identifies the part number.

I hope this helps.
