fn Key and F5

Dear HP Support,

I recently bought an HP Laptop S/N #5CD4094QPM Product ID# A05LQEA#BH5.

Something strange I have observed about this product is that on the Keyboard, the F5 key has no other function on it except F5. My question is: Why should I press the fn key on the keyboard then F5? You know like to activate Airplane mode, I just press the button with the airplane on it. Then when I want to use the F12 button I press the fn key then F12. But why this behavior on F5 when it is a lone key? This is strange. Can this be corrected?

If the computer includes a Backlit keyboard, the F5 key is marked with a "keyboard sunburst" icon.

No icon on the key = no Backlit keyboard

and

(2) fn key Executes specific functions when pressed in combination with another key.
