Hi @AnishaA,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
It’s frustrating to see that error on a brand-new laptop, especially when you’re expecting everything to work smoothly right out of the box.
A few questions to better understand the issue:
- Did you notice this error from the very first use, or did it appear after some updates or usage?
- Are you using the original charger that came with the laptop?
- Does the laptop run on battery power at all, or only when plugged in?
Meanwhile, let's try these steps.
Power Reset the Laptop: Power off the laptop, unplug it, and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds. Plug it back in and restart. This can sometimes clear minor battery or hardware recognition errors.
Run HP Battery Check: Open HP Support Assistant and run the Battery Check utility to get more insight into the battery's status and see if the tool provides specific recommendations.
Update BIOS and Battery Drivers: Visit the HP support website and download any available BIOS and driver updates specific to your model. Updated firmware can sometimes resolve battery detection issues.
Check Windows Battery Settings: Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery and check if any settings might limit the battery charge or display inaccurate percentages.
Inspect Battery Connection (if removable): If your model allows for battery removal, ensure it’s seated properly. A slightly loose connection could cause detection issues, although this is rare with brand-new models.
If the issue persists, it may be worthwhile to contact HP phone support, as the battery could need calibration or replacement under warranty.
