I'm able to have 2 internal hard drives with this laptop. I have the short hard drive cable but need the long hard drive cable. Does anyone know where I can purchase the long hard drive cable? Thanks!

The ebay link above will allow you to buy the long cable. The short cable is more commonly sold because the laptop comes with the long cable and usually you buy the short one to add a second drive.
So you have a single hard drive but in the secondary bay? It will work that way but as you say when you get the long cable move the existing drive over to the bay that is now empty and put the second drive in the bay now occupied.
Do you have the caddy or rails for the second drive? Very imprtant...keeps the drive from ratling around in there.

Yeah and you need a second hard drive caddy (or 2 rubber rails), too.
The long cable is for the primary hard drive.

I had a local computer store fix my laptop. I needed both hard drive cables and they said they were only able to get the short cable so that is what my primary hard drive is running off of. I currently don't have a secondary drive installed for this reason (not having the long hard drive cable). Do you know how I can get my hands on the long hard drive cable. I can swap the drives myself once I have both cables. Thanks!

Your inquiry is unique enough you might want to Accept as Solution so it adds in to the library and gets easier to find in a search engine. Glad to have helped. I had that model a few years back as an HP loaner. If you get enough rank here they loan you some equipment every year to try out and so you are better able to help people with theirs.

Thanks for the advice. I accepted as a solution...and just to triple check (thinking it doesn't matter) but my model is actually a touchsmart laptop; the link to the hard drive cable will still work with my version of the laptop since it's has a touchscreen, correct? Thanks for all of your help!

I purchased the item from the ebay link provided and either they sent the wrong item or weren't truthful about the item they were selling. I received a short cable (which I already have). Do you know of another place I can order the long cable (preferably in the states if able).

I would contact the ebay seller they live in fear of bad feedback. The long one is many times harder to find than the short one. All you can do is search by part number. If you keep having problems with the ebay seller let us know.
