HARD DRIVE DST TEST fails with UC7QXR-7SQB32-XD7WLK-60QW03, I managed to run chkdsk with /F , notbook now starts however it is very very slow when given any command, tried to launch task manager, I can see something is taking 100%disk, but cannot identify process. can the HDD be salvaged

Hi:

 

I doubt the drive can be salvaged.

 

I recommend you back up any files you need to save to a portable hard drive as soon as you can.

 

Then you will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

 

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" SATA solid state drive (SSD)

After you have saved any files you needed as a last resort, run the checkdisk command and see if it will repair any problems with the drive.
