My product ID is Eom18ua#aba. It says my hard drive Smart Check failed. Does this mean I need a new hard drive? What hard drive should I buy

Hi,

Your notebook is listed as coming with a 500Gb Hard Drive, but you can just as easily install a 750Gb HDD if you want a bit more space - the drives on the following links are examples that would be fine for your notebook.

500Gb Hard Drive

750Gb Hard Drive.

The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 61 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

Once you've installed the HDD, you can use your Recovery Media to reinstall the operating system on the new drive

Hi,

Yes, that should be fine - it's probably a bit slimmer ( 7mm ) than the existing drive, but will still fix into the caddy Ok.
