Microsoft Windows 11

hi, this is my first post on this community. I have a notebook model 15s-eq0046nl, id 1d5g6ea and I would like to know if it's possible to make hardware upgrades and how to check component compatibility. I would also like to know if it is possible to change the processor and possibly which one would be compatible with the motherboard. Thanks in advance for your answers

Hi:

Notebook processors have been integral parts of the motherboard for several years now and cannot be upgraded.

The only upgrades you can do would be to install more memory, and a larger capacity NVMe SSD (if 512 GB is not enough space for your needs).

Below is the link to the service manual.  The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

If you wanted to install more than 16 GB of memory in your notebook, you can do this to see if it is possible:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

I recommend purchasing Crucial memory because they guarantee compatibility, but feel free to install any brand memory that meets the specifications.

Crucial doesn't list your exact model but they do have memory for this very similar model:

The specs:

HP Laptop - 15s-eq0030nl Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

8 GB:

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial.com

16 GB:  If the Windows report indicates you can install 32 GB of memory:

Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT16G4SFD824A | Crucial.com

You should be able to buy this memory on Amazon, Italy or on Crucial.it.

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT8G4SFS824A | Crucial IT

Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT16G4SFD824A | Crucial IT

SSD upgrades:

1 TB Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro)

1 TB Western Digital Blue SN570.
