Hi @Dondo22,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing some unusual keyboard behavior with your HP Pavilion 14 laptop. The issues you've described, where pressing the "0" key results in a string of numbers and pressing "=" activate airplane mode, are not standard behavior for a laptop keyboard.

Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.

  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect your keyboard for any physical damage like spilled liquids, dirt, or debris that might be causing these issues. If you find any, you should clean your keyboard carefully and ensure there's no residue causing interference.
  • Update or Rollback Keyboard Drivers: Outdated or corrupted keyboard drivers can cause unusual behavior. You can try updating your keyboard drivers through the Device Manager in Windows. If that doesn't work, you can also try rolling back the drivers to a previous version.
  • Reboot Your Laptop: Sometimes, issues like these can be temporary glitches. A simple reboot might resolve the problem.
  • Check for Software Conflicts: Third-party software or malware could be causing this issue. Perform a full system scan with a reliable antivirus program to ensure your system is clean. Also, consider disabling any third-party keyboard-related software temporarily to see if that's the cause.
  • Accessibility Settings: Check if any accessibility settings are enabled that might cause this behavior. Go to the Windows settings and navigate to "Ease of Access" settings to review these options.
  • Test in Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode (press F8 or Shift + F8 during startup) to see if the issue persists. If it doesn't, it may indicate a software conflict.
  • System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a point where the keyboard was working correctly.
  • BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop on HP's official website. Sometimes, BIOS updates can resolve hardware-related issues.
  • Hardware Inspection: If none of the software solutions work, it might be a hardware issue.
  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can try performing a factory reset on your laptop. This will erase all your data, so make sure to back up important files first. Factory resets should only be done when all else fails.

Remember to back up your important data before attempting any major troubleshooting steps that might result in data loss.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
