You are welcome! It's a good idea to try the Intel IO driver since it was compatible with the touch pad. If in case the Intel IO driver fails then try adding the HID compliant mouse driver:

1.) Open Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) your touchpad driver.

2.) Select Update driver software... > Browse my computer for driver software.

3.)  Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, select HID compliant mouse, select Next, and follow the instructions to install it.

A warm welcome to HP Support Community!

Most of the touchpad issues can be resolved by removing the existing driver and then installing a compatible driver. Here is how to do it:

1.) Temporarily connect a mouse to HP Stream notebook.

2.) In Windows, search for and open "Device Manager".

2.) Double-click "Mice and other pointing devices".

3.) Right-click the Synaptics pointing  device and select "Uninstall". Please make sure that you check the box "Delete driver software for this device"

Once the driver is removed, download and install the latest touchpad driver from here

Instructions on how to fix touchpad on HP Notebooks can be found here

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for trying.... No go... I did what you suggested. The only most recent touchpad driver available for my stream 11 is dated 2015. I know it won't work because I tried it even before corresponding with you. What did work at least before this most recent Windows update was an Intel io driver from 2017. That might work again, however, I can't find anything newer. Thanks.
