hinge on right side of 17 inch laptop broke,

Hinge on right side cracked, gap when opening and closing.  One year warranty expired 6 months ago, if i buy extended warranty is this covered?  will my Chase Visa cover it (says it adds an extra year)

To get the answer to this question, pre-existing damage will not be covered by an extended warranty plan.
