can i upgrade my laptop ram to 16 GB

i have HP BS579tx, windows 10 64 bit, some online sites mentioned as 2 memory slots, but HP site mentioned 1*8

could u please tell me how much ram for this notebook

Hi:

 

Your notebook has two memory slots.

 

The HP spec of 1 x 8 means that your notebook came with a single 8 GB memory chip.

 

You can add a second one in the empty slot and max it out to 16 GB.

DDR4-2133 dual channel support (6th and 7th generation Intel Core processors)
Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following configurations

● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)
● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1)
