Pages 18-20 of the users manuals shows parts.
There are three SSDs listed
(17) Solid-state drive
1 TB, PCIe L85348-001
512 GB, PCIe L85360-001
256 GB, PCIe L85350-001
I suspect that 2tb drives are also available.
The above 3 SSDs are all Gen3.
However, your CPU, Ryzen 5, 5600 is PCIexpress Gen-4; I guessed at your product id and IF it is 6N1V9PA then a Gen-4 SSD will work better. and I see one listed there.
I see the following SSDs available for 6N1V9PA . Go here and put in your serial number and see if PCIe-4x4 is listed.
if your system is gen4 capable then upgrade to a 1tb or 2tb drive that is Gen4 else Gen3. Be sure to remove the heat sink from the 512 stick and put it on the newer one. If the SSD you buy comes with a heat sink use only the HP one.
I do not know how to tell if your laptop is Gen3 or Gen4 other than asking the SSD what it is and looking it up.
For example
The spec for my 970 is Gen3
