Hi @15-q493cl ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to resolve the missing IDE ATA/ATAPI driver issue on your HP ENVY Notebook - 15-q493cl (ENERGY STAR) running Windows 10, you can follow these steps:
1. Update or Reinstall IDE ATA/ATAPI Driver via Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- In the Device Manager, expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers section.
- If you see any missing or faulty drivers (indicated by a yellow exclamation mark), right-click on the affected device and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If Windows cannot find a suitable driver, return to the same device, right-click, and select Uninstall device.
- After uninstalling, restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the missing driver upon reboot.
2. Run Windows Update:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates to ensure your system is up to date.
- If updates are found, install them and restart your computer.
3. Manually Install the Driver from HP :
- Visit the HP Support website for your notebook model:
- HP ENVY 15-q493cl drivers and downloads
- Search for your model, then look under Driver-Storage for any available IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller drivers.
- Download and install the driver, and then restart your computer.
4. Run Hardware Troubleshooter:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Navigate to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
5. Use System Restore:
If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a previous point:
- Search for System Restore in the Windows search bar.
- Select a restore point from when the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller worked properly.
Let me know if you need any further assistance!
