I have a pavilion 15-p141ne, motherboard is "Hewlett-Packard 2281 77.35". I'm currently planning to upgrade to an SSD memory and was hoping to to be able use it along the existing HDD. First option is to get a PCIe SSD, how to know if my laptop have a PCIe slot ? would it support NVMe memory cards?
The other option is to use an optical drive caddy to install the secondary drive there (I don't use the optical drive) and use a 2.5" SSD, would that effect the performance of the SSD?

my laptop supports PCIe SSD memory. I think you are talking about Storage (HDD/SSD) not Memory (RAM). The specs of your machine is

No, it does not have PCIe or M.2 slot for storage that means you have to use the second option.
Put SSD to optical drive won't work as boot drive. You have to do a different way:
(a) Upgrade existing HDD to 2.5" SATA SSD and use it as boot drive,
(b) Put old HDD to Optical drive (using a acddy) and use it for storage.
Regards.
