Greetings, this question was previously submitted but was archived. I'd like to know the specifications for upgrading an HP 14 BS014LA laptop to an SSD.

Thank you for your response.

Hi:

You have two options:

1.  You can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD

2.  Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports M>2 SATA SSD's only, not NVMe.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types:

HP 14 Laptop PC (Intel)HP 14g Laptop PCHP 14q Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

You can use the 2.5" drive for additional storage but you will have to remove Windows from the 2.5" drive or the notebook will always want to boot from the 2.5" drive and not the M.2 SSD.

Notebooks that come with dual drive configurations from the factory have no operating system on the 2.5" drive.
