Hi @PStL,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion laptop's battery is not charging even when plugged in, there are several potential solutions you can try.
- Check the power adapter and cable: Ensure that the power adapter is firmly plugged into both the wall outlet and the laptop. Inspect the power cable for any signs of damage or wear. If possible, try using a different power adapter and cable to see if the issue persists.
- Inspect the charging port: Make sure there is no debris or dust in the charging port of the laptop. Use a can of compressed air to blow out any dirt that may be obstructing the connection.
- Reset the battery: Some HP laptops have a reset button on the bottom of the device. Press and hold this button for a few seconds to reset the battery. If your laptop doesn't have a reset button, you can try removing the battery (if removable) and then reinserting it.
- Update BIOS and drivers: Ensure that your laptop's BIOS and all relevant drivers, especially those related to power management, are up to date. You can usually find updates on HP's support website.
- Check battery health: Use HP's built-in battery diagnostic tool or third-party software to check the health of your battery. If the battery is failing, you may need to replace it.
- Try a different power outlet: Sometimes the problem may be with the power outlet itself. Try plugging the laptop into a different outlet to see if that resolves the issue.
- Perform a power reset: Shut down your laptop, unplug it from the power source, and remove the battery (if removable). Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then release it. Reinsert the battery (if applicable), plug in the power adapter, and try turning on the laptop again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
