Hello! Looking for BIOS Download for HP Envy 17t-cg100 to put on flashdrive.  Black Screen with solid light on Caps Lock. I've tried everything including a hard reset with battery and power removed, reseating RAM, automatic BIOS diagnostic would not start. Looking for BIOS Download for HP Envy 17t-cg100 to put on flashdrive.

Thank You, So Much,

Hi, Steve:

Using another Windows PC, make a USB BIOS recovery drive with the latest BIOS update HP currently has for your PC:

Watch these videos for how to create and use a BIOS recovery flash drive with the BIOS exe file.

Paul Tikkanen, Thank you for your prompt response and leading me to the HP Bios download.

Unfortunately, the HP Envy 17t-cg100 did not power on and start downloading the bios from the flash drive. I used the steps in the video and tried the sequences Win+B, Win+V, B, V.  I also tried unpacking the file from the Bios Flash Drive and copied them outside the folders. Same issue black screen Caps Lock lit not blinking, no sounds or life. I

Now I'm thinking the motherboard is probably fried and hopefully not the hard drive. Trying to find a tutorial on transferring data from a non working laptop to another computer. Repair shop to troubleshoot and then replace motherboard or transfer data would probably be the same as buying a new laptop and transferring saved data.

You're very welcome.

Sorry the BIOS recovery didn't work.

You may have a hard time getting the files off the PC because it may say the drive is inaccessible unless it is in the PC.

If your notebook has a NVMe SSD, you can buy a USB 3/USB-C NVMe SSD enclosure, remove the drive, install it in the enclosure, plug the device into a working PC's USB 3 port and see if you can read/copy the data to the PC.

If it has a 2.5" SATA hard drive, you can remove the drive and buy a USB to SATA cable instead.

Great information! Thank you!

I ordered this ANYOYO SSD to USB Adapter 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps to NVME USB Adapter Max 4TB Compatible with PCle NVMe Based M Key and B+M Key Support UASP for NVMe SSD Size 2242/2260/2280(NOT Support SATA SSD) for $14.99 and plugged it into a an old Dell desktop computer running Windows 7 and it pulled it right up without having to download a program. https://a.co/d/eRBKcQi .

I am still wondering if I should just order a new motherboard for this HP Envy 17t-cg100 and replace or go all out for a new laptop. Data is secure now. Weird thing I noticed is that the Power Button, power light at power port, Caps Lock stays on and both fans run while laptop lid is barely opened. Open the lid and every thing goes off except Caps Lock which stays on (white light). I tried doing a hard reset while it was barely open and tried to start Bios reset, but no luck. I don't see evidenced of burned connections on motherboard or disconnected wiring to power or monitor screen.

I'm not finding layman's terms information on testing the motherboard. RAM reseating did not work. Hooking up to different monitor did not work.

You're very welcome.

If it were me, I would opt for a new notebook.

If you buy a new motherboard, you will have to take it to a shop and have all of your PC's info such as the serial number and other motherboard info 'tattooed' into the new motherboard.

That is unless you are able to find a used motherboard and can live with the different serial numbers, etc.

If you enter your notebook's product number in the search window at the link below, it will provide the motherboard part number and description your PC's uses.
