Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

just got this laptop from my grandparents. I am wanting to upgrade the hard drive to an ssd. looked into it a bit and i think i can install an M.2. I was wondering if i can just remove the HDD in the laptop and clone it to a M.2. install the M.2 and be good to go. If i can do that what all do i need other than the M.2. Any brackets or holders?

Those adapters use M.2 but only the SATA-3 will work.  The NVME will not work.  Been there and done that myself.  Only the M.2 with three sets of pins will work in a 2.5 to M.2 adapter.  Typically there are 512 or under in size.

I recommend any of the 2.5 inch such as Western Digital or Sandisk as both use the Acronis cloning software

Oh wow thank you! Sorry but a little confused.. was gonna try to go the M.2 route so I can use it again on a different laptop down the road.. was thinking getting a kaddi for the m.2 to a 2.5 sata. Would I need a bracket/laddie to install into laptop?
