omen 15-ax033dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I just want to upgrade my old gaming laptop, have an omen 15-ax033dx, so I want to increase my RAM from 8 to 16, change my 1Tb HDD to 1Tb SSD, and upgrade my 126Gb SSD to 500Gb SSD, so... I don't know which one could be the best hardware to buy to get those upgrades... please help!

-what 8Gb RAM recomend that fit exactly to encrease from 8 to 16?

-what SSD recoment ? (gonna clone it)

-what SATA SSD recoment to change my old HDD?, i think it came with the adapter or came to fit exactly? (gonna clone it too)

@Ididntknowthat

Its specs

          https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05187528

It has

  • Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ (2.6 GHz, up to 3.5 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores)
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated)
  • 8 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)  on one slot

Therefore it supports dual storage option with M.2 NVMe SSD + 2.5" SATA HDD

1. STORAGE: You can

      (a) Add M.2 NVMe SSD drive to your machine using standard M.2 NVMe SSD up to 2TB, for example

                       https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/nvme-ssd/970-evo-nvme-m-2-ssd-500gb-mz-v7e500bw/

      (b) Replace existing 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA with 1TB or 2TB 2.5" SATA SSD using standard 2.5" SSD such as Crucial MX500, Samsung 850/860/870 ..... Note: it uses 9.5mm (thickness) now therefore I highly recommend to use Crucial MX500 because Crucial includes an adapter with their products, others vendors (as I know) do not

                     https://www.crucial.com/ssd/mx500/ct1000mx500ssd1/ct11518957

you can also use 7mm thickness drives but you need to install properly.

2. RAM: Crucial says RAM is 8GB or 16GB non-removable. Manual also says Two SODIMM slots - customer non-accessible/non-upgradeable But I believe you can add same existing 8GB RAM to slot 2 because manual shows you how to do on page 42.

Regards.
