This system started with a 90B error on startup. have replaced the fans, updated bios and the problem persists. The fan is new and works. it spins for a bit but then gets shut down. this then causes the computer to overheat and shut off. Diagnostic in UEFI sees the cpu fan but the gpu fan is not detected or running. It does run when the system starts but not for long.
Other than a motherboard problem I can't see how to fix this. The system is out of warranty and not by much. great job HP you made the system get through warranty. Love when it breaks right after warranty is over. Anybody have ideas? please don't say to clean it. obviously if I put new fans (that means both) I clearly cleaned when I did the job. I am an experienced tech.

Hi @macgyverak
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I can sense your frustration, and I truly empathize with the situation—especially when you've already put in so much effort to resolve the issue. A 90B error can be tricky, but let's explore some additional steps that might help:
Step 1: Verify Fan Connections
- Double-check the connections for both the CPU and GPU fans on the motherboard. Ensure they are securely plugged into the correct headers.
- If possible, test the fans on another system to confirm they are functioning properly.
Step 2: Check BIOS Fan Settings
- Access the BIOS by pressing Esc or F10 during startup.
- Look for fan control settings under Hardware Monitor or Advanced Settings.
- Ensure the fan control mode is set to Automatic or PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) for both fans.
Step 3: Test with External Software
- Install a fan control software like SpeedFan or HWMonitor to manually test and monitor fan speeds.
- Check if the GPU fan responds to manual adjustments.
Step 4: Inspect Power Supply
- Ensure the power supply unit (PSU) is delivering adequate power to the motherboard and fans.
- If the PSU is underpowered or faulty, it could cause the fans to shut down prematurely.
Step 5: Reinstall GPU Drivers
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest GPU drivers for your system.
- Uninstall the current drivers and perform a clean installation of the new ones.
Step 6: Update or Reinstall BIOS
- Even if the BIOS is up-to-date, try reinstalling it manually. Sometimes, a corrupted BIOS can cause hardware detection issues.
- Visit the HP Support website to download the BIOS update for your specific model.

Step 7: Test with a Different GPU (Optional)
If you have access to another compatible GPU, test it in your system to see if the issue persists. This can help identify whether the problem lies with the GPU or the motherboard.

I really wish you had actually read the entire post I made. It might have saved you from making bad suggestions. Such as you want me to test the fans in case they don't work. well we purchased the fans brand new from you. They were placed in the system and if you re-read you'll see what works and does not. Since you failed to read let me repeat that we all updated bios also downloaded from you and still no go. By the way, the options for the fan that you ask do not exist in the bios. The only thing there is "fans always on" which is set to true.
You make suggestions that don't even exist on the system. The UEFI diagnostics fails the GPU fan so I seriously doubt windows drivers is the cause. So far what you did was waste my time giving me boiler plate instructions that if you took the time to read you would have realized were already checked and done. Please go back and this time a response directed to the issue would be greatly appreciated.
