pavilion 15 cc612tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all:

The 128G M.2 SSD of my pavilion 15 cc612tx (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05851888) was full.

I purchased a 1TB M.2 SSD Adata SX8200 Pro ( https://www.xpg.com/us/feature/583/ ), connected with the laptop with a M.2 to USB adapter and migrated the OS to the new SSD successfully with EaseUS Partition Master. But the laptop cannot recognize the 1TB M.2 SSD when I open the laptop cover and replaced the original 128G SSD with it.

I then tried to migrate the OS to a older Samsung 512 G M.2 SSD SM951(https://www.storagereview.com/node/4803) but the laptop still not recognize after installed to M.2 socket. Where both of them can be read/write normally via the USB adapter.

After searched in the community, I found HP laptop may not recognize some type of M.2 SSD (NVME PCI-E or SATA PCI-E?). I found some compatibility list at https://www.mrmemory.co.uk/ssd-upgrades/hp/pavilion-notebook/15-cc612tx

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP---Compaq/pavilion-15-cc612tx

Since I am at Hong Kong, I cannot purchase a SSD and return it when found it not usable on my computer, there is no such service here. So I would like to ask anyone have experience whether the compatibility list is correct? or is there an official compatibility list? Is there any logic I can follow to find a compatible SSD?

Normally Crucial gives very good compatible products and they guarantee this. You don't have to buy from Crucial US or UK, you can get the specs of the product and buy in Hong Kong.

Thanks Banhien, I finally purchased a Crucial MX500 SATA M.2 1TB SSD. It can be recognized by the notebook after enabled the legacy support in BIOS. Seems my computer only support SATA M.2 SSD where I can't found in the specification list. Thank you.

P.S. When I connected the SATA M.2 SSD to the M.2 to USB adapter, I found it can't be recognized by system. And this time the problem is on the adapter which only support PCIE M.2 SSD. I need to purchase another USB to SATA M.2 SSD adapter. The M.2 interface was very trouble.

Thanks anyway .
