Hi @schatzi2,
Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you. 🙂 I reviewed the post regarding assistance with processor upgrades for the notebook. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂
Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require information regarding this:
For a start please try these steps:
- Did you check the product specs of your computer?
- Did you check the service manual of the computer?
Please check the product specs link: http://hp.care/2igMBGp
- It came preinstalled with 8GB RAM. - 8 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB)
- The service manual link: http://hp.care/2t2jQRQ clearly states that the computer supports a maximum of 16GB. Please check pages 1 and 34-36 for a list of supported memory modules with part numbers.
- Also it gives you steps on how to remove and install it.
As far as the SSD is concerned the computer has an M.2 slot.
The supported SSDs tested by HP are
- GNRC SSD 128 GB 2280 M2 SATA-3 Value TL 827560-017
- GNRC SSD 256 GB 228 0M2 PCIe 3x4SS NVMeTLC TL 847109-005
- GNRC SSD512GB 2280M2PCIe3x4SS NVMeTLC TL 847110-002
Please refer page 33 of the service manual that gives the list of supported SSDs with part numbers and how to install it as well.
Please note that HP does not recommend upgrading either the operating system or the computer’s hardware as the components that were initially installed with the unit are certified by HP for optimal performance. However, as you are very technically inclined, I would still request you to consult a local technician like Best Buy or Staples before proceeding to upgrade the unit.
This is to ensure that there are no compatibility issues and everything is a smooth sail.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a terrific week ahead.
