Hi @yocanda,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the HP Power Manager software is not available for all HP devices, and it appears that your HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fa0000 (8Z8P7AV) may not officially support it. However, there are a few alternative ways to manage charging and reduce heat:
1. Use Windows Battery Settings to Limit Charging
- Windows does not natively offer charging thresholds, but some laptops allow enabling a "Battery Saver" mode to limit power consumption. Check if your device supports battery care or charge limiting settings in the BIOS (see step 3).
2. Adjust Power Plans:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery > Advanced Power Options.
- Choose a Balanced or Power Saver plan to reduce performance and heat.
3. Check for BIOS Charging Settings:
- Restart your device and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup.
- Look for options like Battery Care, Adaptive Charging, or Maximum Battery Charge and enable them.
4. Reduce Background Activity:
- Use Task Manager to close unnecessary programs running in the background.
- Keep the laptop in a cool, well-ventilated area when charging.
5. Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Visit the HP Drivers & Software page for your model.
- Ensure all drivers, including BIOS and thermal management software, are up to date.
6. the Charger Wattage:
- Using a higher-wattage charger than recommended can cause excessive heat. Make sure you're using the original HP charger provided with your laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I tried all the above. but nothing has resolved the issue.
when the device is running on battery power it idles around 30C
when I plug in the charger it goes up to 66c quickly
the laptop is simply to hot to use at this moment
power draw is 40watt on average on charger (when charging battery also)
is it normal to have this temperature on 40watt charging?
if I use a lower watt charger, would that work with this laptop? and limit the heat issue?
I simply cannot use this device like this
thank you
