HP ProBook 430 G6 Notebook PC

i have this port replicator HP 681280-001 3005pr USB 3.0 Port Replicator Docking Station  and i have the hp probook 430 g6 and may be replacing it with a hp probook g7 that takes the same power supply.

my question is can i run the port replicator and the pc on the same 65w power supply with a splitter adapter cable? having to use a power supply for each pc takes up a needed outlet.  it seems to me that because the pc is not in need of powering any devices outside of sending data to the port replicator and the port replicator is doing the bull work that i might be able to split the 65w power supply and run both well.

if this is possible does anyone have a handle on the cable splitter

thanks

Hello.

No, you cannot use the same power supply because the port replicator and laptop use different voltages. The HP 3005pr requires 18.5 volts, and HP laptops require 19.5 volts.

If you want a single power cable solution, you would need a (much newer) USB dock with USB-C power delivery.

HP USB-C Dock G5 would be a good candidate.

wow that is correct. the port replicator came with a 19.5vdc power supply so that may be one reason it gave me fits. anyway it is now on the shelf i put the usb replicator back on the pc and it works better the pc has space for the hdmi and the lan plus 1 spare port for now. i think i will get one of those that have 5 or 6 ports and just that one instead if i find i need more ports thanks
