Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hp probook 4525s won't boot, but cap button blinks nonstop. It stopped mid-sentence, and has stayed unbootable. Very occasionally when the on button is pushed, the F6 key flashes 5 times., then the caps button flashes nonstop. I reset 2 - 4gb memory chips. I exchanged 2–4 GB for 2–2 GB memory chips (I believe the original). The same behavior repeated. I do not remember the F6 key flashing. USB thumb drive lights up. The onboard DVD drive spins, but not fast. The CPU must be activated, as heat is felt at the vents. I did not wait to see if the fan activated.  I read this is a memory problem. I also read 1 post, not HP, that it was a faulty BIOS, and to download and install a new BIOS to a thumb drive. I'm not certain how to accomplish the installation part with an unbootable computer. Thoughts, please. Thank you, Tom Wake

Hi @Tom7482

Unfortunately, I do not have good news for you.

Unless your intent is to restore the laptop, you would be better off sourcing something a bit newer.

The HP Probook 4525s is from the 2010 or 2011 model year.

That is 13 or 14 years since manufacture.

Here is the Maintenance & Service guide for the laptop model series

I am not surprised that after all of this time you are seeing issues.

Good luck!

Thanks for your help. I'd hoped death wasn't the only option. Good computer. Ran 32 and 64 bit OSs.  Any other ideas out there?
