hello,
I have a hp stream notebook. model number11-d010wm.
I am trying to replace my cmos batter i have taken the whole thing apart and i do not see one. does this notebook have one? if so could you tell me where.

I looked at the manual here and did not see mention of a CMOS battery. I guess since the main battery is not removable, the designers did not see a need. Also, many here have fixed Stream laptop shutdown issues by letting the main battery completely discharge so that seems to indicate there is no CMOS battery providing backup power. What is your reason for wanting to replace it?

Hi,
Believe this or not, no information for RTC (or CMOS battery) at all. Looks like it does not have one

im actually not going to replace it i was hoping to reset the bios by removing it. im workin on this laptop for a friend who locked her self out. ussually i just use a software and boot from the bios and remove passwords. but this laptop is locked out and wont let me reach the bios no matter what i do. i have tried every key combination. i am always prompted with a "enter administrator password or power password". i have tried using the bios website to generate a code and it still doesnt work. i called hp and they said they would have to take it apart and do some stuff but they are going to charge more than the laptop is worth. not sure what else to try. any suggestions would be great because im about to just give it back to her and say there is no hope.
thanks,
Chad

Leaving the notebook powered on until the main battery fully discharges should accomplish the same thing as removing the (nonexistent) CMOS battery. This has fixed some issues with the Stream notebooks as I mentioned. You are using https://bios-pw.org/ to generate the password?

yea i used bios-pw.org
her battery is no good anyway like you have to have it plugged in to work and it doesnt charge so when im testing it im not useing the battery anyway. i have actually unplugged the main battery all together and tried it.

Okay, I wonder if the BIOS got corrupted somehow then. I have not read here before where someone could not obtain a working password from bios-pw.org. I wonder if a working battery is required in order to enter the BIOS possibly.

thats what i was wondering maybe it needs a functional battery. i did download the bios update from hp website and was able to get that to boot and install (not from the bios though) so the bios shouldnt be corrupt. i will see if she wants to maybe buy a new battery
