Hi @Lane20

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out—and I’m really sorry your HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock isn’t lighting up or responding. That’s definitely frustrating, especially when you’ve already tried multiple outlets.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help get things powered up and working properly:

🔌 Try These Steps to Get Your Dock Working

Check the Power Adapter Connection

  • Make sure the power adapter is securely connected to both the dock and the wall outlet.
  • Try a different outlet or power strip to rule out any supply issues.

Inspect the USB-C Cable

  • Ensure the USB-C cable is firmly connected to both the dock and your laptop.
  • If possible, test with a different USB-C cable to rule out damage or compatibility issues.

Use a Compatible USB-C Port

  • Your laptop must support DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery through its USB-C port.
  • If you're unsure, check your laptop’s specifications or try another device that supports these features.

Update Firmware and Drivers

  • Visit the HP USB-C Dock G5 support page to download the latest firmware and drivers.
  • Keeping these updated ensures proper communication between the dock and your system.

Try a Full Power Cycle

  • Disconnect everything from the dock.
  • Unplug the power adapter from the wall and the dock.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect everything and power it back on.

Check for LED Behavior

  • If the bottom LED lights up but the top LED doesn’t, it may indicate a compatibility issue with your laptop model.
  • Some features like charging or wake-on-dock may only work with specific HP devices.

You’re doing the right thing by checking all the basics, and I know it’s frustrating when the dock stays silent.

If you'd like, I can help you confirm your laptop’s compatibility or walk through the firmware update steps together.

Let’s get your setup glowing again! 💡
