HP Notebook - 15-db1030nt
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop has a 128 GB SSD. I'm going to replace it with a 500GB SSD but I don't know what type of SSD I have right now. How can I find out the SSD type I am currently using and the SSD type it supports? By the way, I am using HP 85EA as a motherboard.

A disk 'cv8-8e128-hp' is an M.2 SATA SSD.

As I said earlier, your Ryzen3-based notebook supports an M.2 NVMe. If you need a 500 GB drive, here are a couple of good ones.

Amazon.com: Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN570 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8...

The notebook's internal illustration on page 41 of the manual shows an M.2 slot is located on the lower front corner, to the right of the battery.

@Efe0755,

Your HP specs indicate that your model comes with a Ryzen 3 processor.

Service manual (pages 2-3) states that your model supports M.2 NVMe SSDs as well as M.2 SATA SSDs. You should be able to install an M.2 NVMe which is much faster than a SATA M.2 SSD.

Your current 128 GB M.2 SSD may be a SATA SSD. If you want to know for sure, open Device Manager, click on 'Disk drives' and get the model number of the disk and we can look it up.
