Hi ,
there is a bug with the hypertreading in the bios for this notebook .
My BIOS is in version F72 .
i see on HP SITE a version F73 here : https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/drivers/hp-17-by0000-laptop-pc/model/24143658?sku=4PQ53EAR , but it seems to be impossible to install it due the version is not compatible with my notebook ...
I download it for this notebook , but not compatible , what ???
the hypertreading did not work on my notebook , the processor is a intel " i8520u " and , for sure , support hypertreading , see : https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/124967/intel-core-i58250u-processor-6m-cache-up... .
(4 core/ 8 threads)
so , i decided to activate it in the BIOS .
when i go to to activate it , i got this message : [Content Removed]
The change don't affect anything , and is not made in BIOS .
hyper treading stays always desactivated .
how to have working hypertreading AND BIOS please ??

In fact , i ' m not alone with this troubleshoot :
ETC ETC ...
hundreds of messages in this forum explain this problem !
Hyper treading is not just a parameter , it is a capabilty to double the processor power , it is very important to have it working and need it .
more , this probleme exists for long years and still not resolved , Amazing and imcomprehensive it is for a trademark as Hewlet Packard !

Hi @lavauto
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you want to over clock you PC, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
We do not recommend over clocking becuase it may damage your hardware in a long run, however if you want you may try these steps,
Check BIOS Compatibility: Ensure that the F73 BIOS version is indeed compatible with your specific model. Sometimes, even slight variations in the model number can lead to compatibility issues.
BIOS Update: If you can’t install F73 directly, check if there’s an intermediary BIOS version (like F72.1 or similar) that you can update to before trying to install F73. Sometimes, manufacturers require incremental updates.
Reset BIOS Settings: Before making changes, try resetting your BIOS to factory defaults. There’s usually an option for this in the BIOS menu. After resetting, try enabling hyper-threading again.
Check for BIOS Lock: Some OEMs lock certain settings in the BIOS. It might be worth checking HP forums or contacting HP support to see if there are known restrictions with your BIOS version.
Clear CMOS: If you feel comfortable, you could try clearing the CMOS. This will reset the BIOS settings and may help resolve the issue.
The advanced bios option in most of the HP pc'sis disabled.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi @lavauto
I understand the context, and I would like to know if you have tried those steps. Additionally, could you elaborate on the picture you sent? It's in a different language than English, making it difficult for me to understand.

Hi , i ' ve tested to factory reset BIOS , to downgrade it to F71 version , to load defaut BIOS setup , etc ... etc ... nothing help .
the screenshot i posted ( in french , message 1) , is exactly the same thing i posted in message number 2 .
click on first link ( message 2 ) , and you will see exactly same troubleshooting pop up i have in the BIOS setup , but in english .
this bug affects different types of computers and is purely BIOS-related.
As i said in message 2 , i ' m not alone experiencing this bug , there is lot of message in this forum exposing exactly same troubleshoot for years !
you should contact your BIOS programmer to inform him of this very annoying bug which restricts the normal operating capacity of processors supporting hyper-threading .
Moreover this parameter should not even exist, it should be automatic in the BIOS for all the processors which support the hyper-threading, it does not have any interest to be able to deactivate it.
