Hi @debaleena,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The 90B fan error on HP laptops usually indicates an issue with the cooling fan. This could be due to hardware failure, overheating, or dust buildup that affects the fan's operation. Here are some steps to resolve the problem.

Power off and unplug your laptop: Before doing anything, make sure the laptop is completely powered off and unplugged.

Clean the fan: Dust and debris can obstruct the fan and cause it to malfunction. Use compressed air to gently clean the fan and vents. Hold the fan blades in place while cleaning to avoid damaging the fan motor.

Check for overheating: Overheating can trigger fan errors. Make sure the laptop is being used on a hard, flat surface that allows for proper airflow. If it's used on a soft surface like a bed or couch, the cooling system can be blocked.

Reset the BIOS:

  • Power on the laptop and immediately press ESC or F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
  • In the BIOS, look for a "Restore Defaults" or "Reset BIOS" option. This will reset the fan settings to factory defaults.

Update the BIOS: If the BIOS is outdated, it may cause fan-related errors. Visit the HP website, search for your laptop model, and download the latest BIOS update. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully when updating.

Run hardware diagnostics:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Turn it on and immediately press the ESC key repeatedly until the startup menu appears.
  • Select F2 to run the built-in diagnostics.
  • The diagnostic test will check for any hardware issues, including the cooling fan.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
