Hp Laptop 14-bs0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Good day everyone, I bought a 256gb gigabyte ssd nvme m2.2280 for my Hp Laptop 14-bs0xx i7 7th gen proc. But when I installed it, the system is not opening. It only has blinking light on the side whenever I try to open it. The product number is 4FW70PA#UUF . I'm hoping someone can help me with my concern. Thanks.

Hi:

Your notebook's M.2 slot only supports SATA M.2 SSD's, not NVMe, which is why you are in your present dilemma.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types.

Can you recommend something for me?

this is my ssd slot. And I think it's for m2 2280. Is there an m2 2280 ssd that is not nvme?

Hi:

Yes, if you can get this model in the Philippines, it should provide the best performance for the price.

Amazon.com: Western Digital 250GB WD Blue 3D NAND Internal PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, M.2 2280, Up to...

The physical appearance of the M.2 slot is meaningless.

All M.2 slots in HP notebook and desktop PC's look like they will support a NVMe SSD.

You have to read chapter 1 of the applicable service manual for the types of SSD's supported in the M.2 slot.

Some support SATA only, some support NVMe only, and some support both.

Hi, how can I insert the one you recommend if I don't have that sata socket? I only have one slot for a 2nd ssd as you can see in the picture.

HP Recommended

By any means, can you fit a m2 sata ssd (with m key and b key) to a ssd port with physical appearance of a m key just like on the picture that I've send?

HP Recommended

The SATA drive with two notches will fit and work just fine.

The other notch doesn't make contact with some of the contact pins in the M.2 slot.

That will have no effect on it not fitting or working.

Thanks a lot

You're very welcome.

I installed the 250 GB capacity of the memory I recommended in a HP Thin Client t630 desktop PC and the slot is exactly the same as yours.  Looks like it fits a NVMe SSD but NVMe SSD's don't work in the slot.

The WD Blue SATA SSD works just fine.
