Hi @valedany,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your keyboard isn't working as expected, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check the Connection:
- If it’s a USB keyboard, ensure it’s properly plugged into the USB port. Try plugging it into a different port.
- If it’s a wireless keyboard, make sure the batteries are not dead, it’s switched on, and properly paired with your device.
Restart Your Computer:
- Sometimes simply restarting your computer can resolve hardware glitches including issues with the keyboard.
Check for Dirt and Debris:
- Make sure there’s no dirt, food, or other obstructions stuck under the keys. Use a can of compressed air or a small brush to clean around the keys.
Check Keyboard Settings:
- Ensure the keyboard settings are correct in your operating system. For example, the keyboard layout settings (like QWERTY or AZERTY) should match your keyboard’s design.
Update or Reinstall Drivers:
- Go to the Device Manager on your computer (on Windows) or System Preferences (on macOS) and check for outdated or corrupt keyboard drivers. You can try updating or reinstalling the drivers.
Test the Keyboard on Another Computer:
- This will help determine if the issue is with the keyboard itself or just its interaction with your computer.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Sometimes, newly installed software can interfere with keyboard functioning. Try uninstalling recent software to see if that resolves the issue.
Use Keyboard Troubleshooter (Windows):
- Windows has a built-in troubleshooter for keyboards. You can access it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Keyboard.
Check Accessibility Settings:
- Make sure accessibility settings like "Sticky Keys" or "Filter Keys" are turned off, as they can alter how your keyboard behaves.
