Pavilion dv-6 3230us
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP dv6 3230us with Intel 2.4ghz i3 370m processor according to the HP page. I would like to know if I can install a bigger processor with a better video card to do live broadcasts without problems. Currently I transmit with this computer through the OBS program to facebook and sometimes I have problems. With the prior recommendation of a technician I will install 8gb of ram soon.

Thanks

@JReyes24 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to upgrade the processor.

(HP does not recommend upgrades as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance and also, the upgradeable parts listed in HP articles are purely for your ease, though the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion)

I have checked the manual.

Your model support the following processor.

Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Intel Core i7 Processors

Intel Core i7-840QM processor with 1.86 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.2 GHz, Quad 45 W

Intel Core i7-820QM processor with 1.73 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.06GHz, Quad 45 W

Intel Core i7-740QM processor with 1.73 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.93 GHz, Quad 45 W

Intel Core i7-720QM processor with 1.6 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.8 GHz, Quad 45 W

Intel Core 2 Duo Intel Core i5 Processors

Intel Core i5-580M processor with 2.66 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.33 GHz, Dual 35 W

Intel Core i5-560M processor with 2.66 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.33 GHz, Dual 35 W

Intel Core i5-540M processor with 2.53 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.06 GHz, Dual 35 W

Intel Core i5-520M processor with 2.4 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.93 GHz, Dual 35 W

Intel Core i5-480M processor with 2.66 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.93 GHz, Dual 35 W

Intel Core i5-460M processor with 2.53 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.8 GHz, Dual 35 W

Intel Core i5-450M processor with 2.4 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.66 GHz, Dual 35 W

Intel Core i5-430M processor with 2.26 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.53 GHz, Dual 35 W

The processor part is not a user-replaceable part.

I would suggest you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.
