@huog68,

Apparently, the Windows installer needs Intel RST storage controller drivers, but IRST drivers on your support page are 6 years old and don't support W11.

HP doesn't provide IRST drivers for Intel Core 8th gen processors that support W11. So you can try this RST driver from the Intel website.

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Driver Installation Software with Intel® Optane™ Memory (8th and 9th...

Take the following steps to extract driver files and supply them to the Windows installer:

I. Create a Windows installation usb drive with Microsoft media creation tool (an ISO file-based installation media tends to cause errors during the IRST driver installation).

2. Download the aforementioned SetupRST.exe and copy it to the root of the C: drive.

3. Open the command prompt as administrator and run the following two command lines. Click the Enter key after each line.

         cd C:\

        SetupRST.exe -extractdrivers SetupRST_extracted

Please note that there's space between SetupRST.exe and -extractdrivers SetupRST_extracted.

4. Navigate to C:\SetupRST_extracted\Production\Windows10-x64 and double click the Windows10-x64 folder. You'll see five folders. Copy all the files from each of the five folders to the root of a usb drive. There should be 27 files altogether on the usb drive (don't just copy the five folders to the usb drive).

5.Connect the usb drive and a Windows installation usb drive to the notebook and boot the system from the installation usb drive.

6. When asked where to install Windows, click Load Driver -> Browse -> the usb drive with IRST drivers -> Ok. Check the box to display compatible drivers only.

7. If you see multiple .inf driver files, select one and click Next. Repeat this until the SSD drive is displayed. If the drive displays "Unallocated Space," click Next to proceed the installation.
