If your internal microphone has disappeared, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Check Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager from the list.
- Expand the Audio inputs and outputs section.
- Look for your microphone. If it's not visible, try selecting Show hidden devices under the View menu.
Re-enable Disabled Devices:
- Right-click on the speaker icon located in the system tray and select Sounds.
- Go to the Recording tab.
- Right-click in the window and select Show Disabled Devices.
- If your microphone appears, right-click on it and choose Enable.
Update or Roll Back the Audio Driver:
- In Device Manager, locate your audio device under Sound, video, and game controllers.
- Right-click on the device and select Update driver.
- If updating doesn't help, select Properties, then the Driver tab and click on Roll back driver if that option is available.
Check Windows Settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
- Ensure that Allow apps to access your microphone is turned on.
BIOS Update:
- Make sure your BIOS is up-to-date. You can download the latest BIOS update from the Official HP Support site.
Run Windows Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Recording Audio and run the troubleshooter.
