i have the hp elitebook 745 amd ryzen 3500u g6 laptop and i have it connected to an hp port replicator. up until a few days ago when i did a speed tests i got over 500 mbps up-dn. then yesterday it started to slow down now i'm getting 400 up and 500 dn. if i take the lan out of the port replicator and plug it into the pc it goes back to over 500 up-dn. so to prove out it is not the pc i plugged into the usb-c port a port replicator that does lan and monitor and i got over 500 up-dn.
so during those tests trying to get the monitor to work with one of my other usb-c port replicators i then plugged in the hp port replicator and the speed went back to over 500 up-dn. then maybe an hour later it was back down to under 400 up-500dn.
could that hp port replicator be failing?
can someone tell me if the hp elitebook 745 with the amd ryzen chips and the usb-c port that has d in a half circle and ss and the lan symbol run a monitor thru that port? the usb-c replicators i have say something about some pcs will not operate monitor thru those devices. but the hp port replicator is running a monitor. thanks

Can you run speed test directly form your machine (no dock) ? Normally DL speed should be faster. For example (my contract (I pay for) is 50/20 - the result is very close) - no complaint
Regards.

i did do that as i stated that in the post. up to a few days ago with the pc connected to the hp port replicator i got over 500 up-dn. then monday we called frontier and got our payment lowered because we are new customers and they were charging us old customer prices. then tuesday i did a speed test and it was 350 up-550dn so to test this i disconnected the hp port replicator and connected the pc directly to the network and the speed went back to over 500 up-dn. also on my phone the eero app tells me i'm getting over 500 up-dn. so i have 2 usb-c port type devices that i then plugged into the pc and the lan and the speed was over 500 up-dn and one usb-c device ran my monitor but did not have any extra usb ports and the other usb-c device would not run my monitor. i believe that is a defective unit.
anyway i wondering if the hp port replicator i'm using now is starting to fail and having the network speed starting to drop is the first sign of that failure. thanks.

thanks for that info. however from the pc i get 480 dn and 596 up and from the dock i get 460 dn and 500up with the dock connected. also when the pc is plugged into the dock i get a tv type ip icon and when i plug into the pc directly i get the wifi icon. i have no clue why the icon changes. so i guess i may have to live with this. it is way faster than comcast. but i was just wondering why the difference. in a few days the dock will start running a bit slower again
i think that eero unit may be not up to speed. i have one more i will swap out. it would be nice if i could plug my linksys ea7500 router directly to the frontier modem. i may just do that and see if it works. but now it is in bridge mode. so i would have to reset it to get it back into router mode and then figure out how to get the ip to be what my home network is now so i do not have to go thru 20 cameras and change their ip to match the xxx.xxx.1.0 now it is xxx.xxx.0.0
