Does the laptop model 15-bs012nl is compatible with SATA M.2 SSD ?

it seems the MOBO has a slot for M.2 SATA, but as i tried to connect one, no disk was detected

Hi:

Yes, the M.2 slot supports SATA SSD's only, not NVMe.

Are you sure you installed a SATA SSD and not an NVMe SSD?

SATA SSD's have two notches on each side of the connector and NVMe SSD's have one notch.

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that SATA SSD's are supported in the notebooks with the Intel core processors.

Hi Paul, thanks for you reply!

you are probably  right, the SSD i've used has 2 noches, much more like a SATA unit. But looking better at the specs, it turns out it's an nvme (KBG30ZMS256G ).

You're very welcome.

Yes, that is unusual for a NVMe SSD to have two notches, but yours was definitely NVMe,

Look into one of the WD Blue SA510 SATA M.2 SSD's, which normally have the best performance for the price.
