Hi @kingpin300800,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having issues with your battery not charging and some problems related to the ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery driver.
Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Update Battery Drivers:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Batteries.
- Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Battery Drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall device.
- After uninstalling, restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver upon reboot.
Check Power Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & battery.
- Click on Battery settings and ensure that your settings are configured correctly. Look for any options related to battery health and charging.
Reset Power Settings:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd" in the Start menu, right-click it, and select Run as administrator).
- Type the following commands one at a time and press Enter after each:
powercfg /restoredefaultschemes
powercfg /batteryreport
- This will reset your power settings to default and generate a battery report.
Check Battery Health:
- In Command Prompt, type powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
- This will generate a battery report file (usually located in your user folder). Open the file to check the battery's health and status.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Sometimes, updating your BIOS/UEFI can resolve battery issues. Check the HP Support website for your laptop model to see if there's a BIOS update available.
Hardware Diagnostics:
- HP laptops usually have built-in diagnostics tools. You can access them by pressing F2 during startup to run HP's hardware diagnostics.
Check Physical Connections:
- Ensure that your AC adapter and charging port are clean and free from dust or debris. Try using a different AC adapter is available to rule out issues with the adapter.
