Hi @keyhelp25

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue so clearly. It’s genuinely frustrating when your laptop keyboard stops responding—especially when you're trying to get work done and basic input fails.

Let’s walk through a structured recovery path to help restore keyboard functionality on your HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000.

Step-by-Step Fix for Keyboard Not Working

1. Check for Physical Lock or Dirt

  • Press Num Lock and Caps Lock to see if any lights respond.
  • Gently clean the keyboard with compressed air to remove dust or debris.
  • Ensure no keys are physically stuck or depressed.

2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

This checks for hardware faults in the keyboard.

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter diagnostics.
  • Select Component Tests > Keyboard Test
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and note any failures

3. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver

Corrupted or outdated drivers can disable keyboard input.

  • Press Windows + X → open Device Manager
  • Expand Keyboards
  • Right-click your keyboard device → choose Update driver
  • If no update is found, choose Uninstall device, then restart your laptop to reinstall automatically

4. Check Windows Accessibility Settings

Sticky Keys or Filter Keys may interfere with input.

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard
  • Turn off Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, and Toggle Keys
  • Restart and test the keyboard again

5. Perform a System Restore (if issue started recently)

If the keyboard was working before a recent update:

  • Go to Settings > System > Recovery > Open System Restore
  • Choose a restore point before the issue began
  • Follow the prompts to complete the process

You’ve already taken the right step by identifying the issue—let’s make sure your keyboard responds reliably and gets back to smooth operation.

If you’d like help interpreting diagnostic results or navigating driver updates, I’m here to assist.
