Hi @muneer9550,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If some of the keys on your HP laptop keyboard have stopped working after a software update, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can solve temporary issues. Restart your laptop and check if the keyboard starts working again.
Check for Driver Updates: Ensure that your keyboard drivers are up-to-date. You can do this by going to the HP website, navigating to the support section, and downloading the latest drivers for your laptop model. Install the drivers and see if the issue persists.
Uninstall and Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:
- Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager."
- Locate the "Keyboards" section, right-click on your keyboard, and select "Uninstall device."
- Restart your laptop, and Windows will reinstall the keyboard drivers.
System Restore: If the issue started after a recent update, you might consider using the System Restore feature to revert your system to a state before the update.
- Press Windows + S, type "Create a restore point," and press Enter.
- In the System Properties window, click on the "System Restore" button and follow the on-screen instructions.
Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for any available updates.
Run Windows Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Run the troubleshooter for keyboard or hardware and see if it can identify and fix the issue.
External Keyboard: If possible, connect an external USB keyboard to your laptop to see if it works. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the laptop's built-in keyboard.
Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the physical condition of your laptop keyboard. If there is any visible damage or if something was spilled on it, that could be the cause of the problem.
Check Accessibility Settings: Sometimes, accessibility settings like Sticky Keys or Filter Keys can interfere with keyboard functionality. Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and make sure these features are turned off.
Perform a System Reset: As a last resort, you might consider performing a system reset, but be aware that this will remove all installed applications and personal files. Make sure to back up your important data before proceeding.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
