I have a HP 17 Laptop that needs a new battery. The installed battery is labeled 10.95 volts. It indicated replacement, PN 807956-001, is 14.8 volts. Will that work? If not, what is the right part?
Thanks

My concern is the step up in voltage going to damage the laptop? No
Is the original 4 cell 41 w-hr a 14.8 volt battery? The batteries are rated at milliamps and watt hours, not voltage. The manual does not even provide the voltage. The OEM power adapters are also rated at milliamps and watt hours. Don't be concerned about the voltage. Be concerned about the HP part number and guaranteed compatibility.
As long as the replacement battery has the OEM HP part number it will be compatible with your notebook.

Welcome to the HP Community Support forum!
It would help in a very big way if you identified your notebook beyond calling it an HP 17 notebook. that is not specific enough to be helpful in identifying compatible parts.
Look on the bottom of the notebook amongst the tiny letters to find a PRODID or colplete Product name.
Kindly put that information in your next replay.
