HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-e2000 (2J4V9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello! Already a few weeks ago, the laptop's battery performance began to decrease exponentially to the point of being completely inoperable. I use the PC daily and naturally started using it plugged in. After a few more weeks I noticed a swelling on the left side of the touchpad and I'm scared to continue to work with it. Warranty expired and it is my first laptop with a battery within it, I have no idea where can I go for help in Portugal and how much this repair may cost. Can someone please help?

You're very welcome.

HP does have the battery in stock that you need...81.07 Euros

You could probably also use an aftermarket battery that references the HP L11119-855-part number, if you don't want to spend so much money on a battery.

Check on Amazon or eBay perhaps.

Look for one that has at least a 1-year warranty.

Hi:

It definitely sounds like the battery is swelling and causing stress on the notebook's hardware.

You need to remove the battery as soon as possible to prevent further stress on the notebook.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the battery removal and replacement procedure:

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

If you don't feel like you have the knowledge, skills, ability or tools to do the work yourself, take the notebook to a local repair shop and have the battery replaced.

Chapter 3 has the parts list with the battery part number.

You can help reduce this problem by never leaving your notebook plugged into A/C power 24/7/365 and the battery in a constant 100% charge state.

Hey! Really appreciate your help! Im far from being an expert but I believe I could do the job myself with some tutorials or something. Despite now I know the needed Battery (3 cell, 41 Whr) L11119-855, Im having difficulty to find standard prices or even where to find one by myself, in a store or trustfull website, especially for Portugal market. Any suggestions?

By the way, can you tell me if this battery model refers to a single exclusive battery or is it just a model that can have several choices of ranges and manufacturers that use that same reference?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah...prices on local services are around 65-90€ while online we can find generic ones 25-35 dollars despite the risk of getting a bad deal. I decided to get my hands dirty and removed the swelled battery and now Im usi the notebook as a desktop before I decide to buy another battery.

Glad you got that bad battery out of there.

Me too, but it wasn't easy. I watched some tutorials, but since I didn't have the right tools, I ruined a file and damaged a card trying to separate the cover. To make matters worse, some of the screws were hard to remove. One of them didn't even come out completely because a nut was loose inside. I don't know if it was the swelling of the battery that may had cause this. But anyways... I managed to open it and now I'm more relaxed to work so when I find convenient I may look to buy another battery.

Yes, I bet it was hard to do--especially without a notebook pry tool kit.

I would imagine that some damage was caused to the notebook by the battery, making it harder to take apart.

Yes, now that the problem of getting that battery out has been solved, you can find one for a good price and a good warranty at your leisure.
