hi there 

i have been using HP EliteBook for 4 years its getting outdated and i cant afford a new one is there any thing i can do to make it usable again

here are my specs

6gb ram

320gb hdd 7200 rpm

core i 5 3rd gen 2.90ghz

intelhd4000 gpu

Laptops are not designed to be kept "up to date" like a desktop where you can swap in new components in a regular basis.  You get what you get.

 

You could increase the RAM, but that would not do much for performance.

 

The main performance gain would be from replacing the HDD with a SATA SSD -- and I would get a 500GB model so you have some extra disk space.  You will notice much better performance with that change.
