hp cx0140 laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hi i bought a new laptop cx0140 which has 2 vents, on the left n right sides, but only the left side vent seems to be blowing out air normally, and not the right side.

the air blown out of the right side vent seems too faint, and the right side of the laptop seems to be getting hot way faster than the left side. is that normal?

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

I went through the computer's user guide and I see that this computer comes with two fans. One for use over system processor, and the other for use over the graphics processor.

The fan used for the system processor will be running frequently since the system processor is responsible for all the operations of the computer, while the fan for the use of graphics processor, will be running only if you use high end graphics on the screen. Hence, it is normal for the right side fan to run intermittently that the left fan which might run frequently.

Please follow this link, and refer page no : 51 for your perusal. 🙂

Hope this helps. 🙂

even when i play graphic intensive games, the right side vent isnt blowing out air normally like the left side vent, even though i feel the fan whirring at the right side too. the air being blown out the right side vent seems too faint when i put my palm against the vent, as compared to the left side vent ( while the game is running ).

the right side of the laptop gets much hotter than the left side, and way too fast too. and even though i feel the right side fan whirring, the vent seems to blow out too faint an air to notice. not normal right?

Thank you for your quick response. 🙂

Let's try updating the bios and once done, re-start the notebook and check if it work's fine. Also, re-start the notebook keep tapping F2, and un a complete system test, just to make sure all the hardware are functioning properly.

Let me know. 🙂

i had already updated the bios to f.09 and today i ran the extensive system test which took a whopping 3+ hours to complete(mostly on hard drive tests).

the right side vent still seems to blow out a faint amount of air while playing graphic intensive games, even though i feel the right side fan whirring.

is the vent blocked or something? is that the normal issue of this laptop? what are my options?

HP Recommended

i tried looking inside the right vent with a flashlight but the grills are too close to each other and i wasnt able to get a clear look inside.

its a brand new laptop and i mostly use it for playing games only, and when i do, the top right side gets hot way too quickly, and even though i feel the fan whirring on the right side too, the air blown of the vent doesnt seem right(too faint).

i dont want it to burn down, but what are my options? should i ask the vendors for a replacement? or should i get it repaired or something? ( in case this isnt a common problem )
