Hi @youngy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the automatic document feeder (ADF) of your HP Officejet Pro 8620. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Check for Obstructions: Make sure there are no obstructions in the ADF path. Even small pieces of torn paper or debris can cause feeding issues.
  • Inspect Document Condition: Ensure that the documents you're trying to scan are in good condition and not torn or wrinkled. Torn edges or wrinkles can cause feeding problems.
  • Adjust Document Alignment: Make sure the documents are loaded evenly and aligned properly within the feeder tray. Misaligned documents can cause feeding issues.
  • Clean the ADF Rollers: Dust and debris on the ADF rollers can also cause feeding problems. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to gently clean the rollers. Refer to your printer's manual for specific instructions on cleaning the ADF rollers.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for common issues like feeding problems.
  • Reset the Printer: Try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve minor software glitches that may be causing the feeding issues.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the feeding issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8620's automatic document feeder.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
