I have a 8gb ram in laptop, looking to upgrade, how can i determine what is the correct ram to use. I bought a samsung 8gb ddr5 but it doesnt seem to be working alongside my nanaya ram.

If you don't specify the laptop model, we can't provide an answer.

 

Now, if you want to know what type of memory is supported, open PowerShell as an administrator and type

Get-CimInstance CIM_PhysicalMemory

 

Then look for the SMBIOSMemoryType result :

 

If the number is 26, it supports DDR4

 

21 is DDR2, 22 is DDR2 FB-DIMM, 24 is DDR3, 26 is DDR4 y 34 is DDR5.
