Hello, I recently bought a new HP Pavilion Power laptop which has the following specs:
Intel Core i7-7700HQ
NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB dedicated
12GB DDR4 system memory
1 TB HD storage
I have issues with it running any game at a decent FPS. Im well aware that the GPU is not the best one for triple A titles but the problem persist with any game no matter how demanding it is. I cant get more than 35-48 , maybe 50 fps on games like LEAGUE OF LEGENDS on 1080 p with everything of VERY LOW and I know for experience from older laptops that I could run this game at 60 fps on medium settings without even a dedicated graphics card. the frame rate is constant and drops on fights to 28 fps no matter how high or low my video settings are. I was also trying the new Black Ops Blackout Beta Today and this problem persisted. I thought at first that maybe the GPU cant handle this new title but no matter how low I would go on video settings it keeps giving me 35 to 40 fps. THE ONLY GAME I can say I can decently play is CSGO, with High Settings on 1080 p . On top of this there are times where I would try to launch a game like PUBG and my screen goes Black but I could here the game on the background like noise but unable to see anything. I think this is because of the lack of SSD from the laptop but im not sure, its quite anoying though. Anyway, IVE TRIED EVERYTHING ON MIND to solve this FPS ISSUE but I cant . I deactivated the battery saver from the GEFORCE EXPERIENCE APP and set it to PERFORMANCE MODE. I set my computer battery to high performance. I even tried to tweak the NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL and adjusted the Image settings to ''use my preference emphasizing performance''. I believe something is capping my GPU or something. I set the NVIDIA processor as ''preferred processor'' at the Global settings tab on the NVIDIA PANEL. Im also using the Adjust for best performance of the Visual effects tab on the '' Performance Options''. I would gladly appreciate it if someone can help me fix this annoying issue.
Thank you for reading.
PS: All my nvidia drivers are up to date and now that im thinking it might be a windows update. My laptop made an automatic windows update 2 days after I bought it and thats when I noticed the issue.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Here's what I recommend you do:
Refer to this link to troubleshoot slow performance/ low FPS issues: Click here
Alternatively, right-click your desktop background and select NVIDIA Control Panel. You can also find this tool by performing a Start menu (or Start screen) search for NVIDIA Control Panel or by right-clicking the NVIDIA icon in your system tray and selecting Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
To quickly set a system-wide preference, you could use the Adjust image settings with the preview option. For example, if you have old hardware that struggles to play the games you want to play, you may want to select “Use my preference emphasizing” and move the slider all the way to “Performance.” This trades graphics quality for an increased frame rate.
By default, the “Use the advanced 3D image settings” option is selected. You can select Manage 3D settings and change advanced settings for all programs on your computer or just for specific games. NVIDIA keeps a database of the optimal settings for various games, but you’re free to tweak individual settings here. Just mouse-over an option for an explanation of what it does.
If you have a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus technology — that is, both NVIDIA and Intel graphics — this is the same place you can choose which applications will use the NVIDIA hardware and which will use the Intel hardware.
If you've already done this and it isn't working, I recommend you update the BIOS, Chipset and graphics card drivers using the HP website: Click here to find and install the same.
Let me know how that pans out,
