Hi:

If your notebook has an Intel core processor, the M.2 slot would support NVMe SSD's.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types...the second one listed on the support page (7.34 MB).

So it says it will support an 512gb m.2 nvme ssd. I bought a 1TB but for the life of me I cannot get it to recognize it. Is there such a thing as too much storage? Any suggestions on how to get it to recognize the new nvme ssd?

I wouldn't think that installing a drive of a larger storage capacity then what was offered in the service manual should have made any difference.

Even the Crucial memory report for your model PC indicates it can support a NVMe SSD up to 2 TB.

So, if your notebook isn't one of those with a Pentium or Celeron processor, those support SATA SSD's only, and you made sure you firmly seated the SSD into the M.2 slot, unfortunately I have no idea why it doesn't work.

The drive should have been plug and play.

When you say it won't recognize it, what are you seeing exactly. Boot into bios does it see the drive? Are you not seeing it in Windows 10 setup?

Correct! It is not even recognizing it in bios! Says there is no hard drive detected!

My notebook has the Celeron dual core processor! Ssd is firmly seated. I’ve tried creating a recovery drive and booting it from that with no luck as well as a fresh install of windows 10 on a usb! I get to the part where it’s asks to choose to either keep my files or not and regardless of which one I choose it gives me an error!

Currently I’m trying to use my Dell Inspiron 3880 to clone it’s hard drive to my m.2 nvme. I’ve installed all the proper drivers on the Dell for the nvme. Hopefully after I clone it, it will be recognized by my HP 15-dw1001wm

If you read Paul's post above he says the Celeron and Pentium boards of that series do not support NVMe drives, so it looks like you need to swap it for an m.2 SATA drive.

Ohhhhhhhh! Thank you! I miss read his statement. Next question! Is it possible to upgrade my processor to get my machine to recognize the nvme? If so which one would you recommend
