Hi!
I have a PC Notebook HP Pavilion 15-n206sp, which has an HP 2166 (U3E1) motherboard and an intel core i7-4500u cpu @ 1.80ghz processor.
I currently have a 500gb SATA HD and I was thinking of upgrading to an SSD, specifically to a Samsung 970 Evo 500gb. However, I'm having trouble trying to find out if it would be compatible.
Can you guys help me out?
Thanks in advance

Hello @lpa87,
Unfortunately, you don't have the M.2 SSD option but you can most definitely go for the 2.5" SATA III SSD.
A Samsung 850 EVO is a great option: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E250B-AM/dp/B00OAJ412U
Steps to the replacement of the drive are located on pages 59-61 of your computer's Maintenance and Service Guide.
One thing I will say because I can't be too sure of is the SATA interface this system uses. It just states "Serial ATA" which is concerning because if it really is using only SATA I, then you won't be able to take advantage of SATA III speeds.
Hope this helps,
Eddy

That's a little bit frustrating, since the prices of the SATA SSD are not so different from the newer and faster M.2 SSD. But thats how it is with older computers and newer technology.
Anyways, I think even a SATA SSD drive will be a good way to extend my laptop's lifespan a couple more years.
Thanks a lot for your reply! It's been very helpful!
